About Me
a little bit about me and Just K Jewellery
I started making jewellery a few years ago and soon became totally addicted to it. I borrowed books from the library and bought lots too. I'm always interested in how something is made and new techniques rather than replicating the piece of jewellery I'm looking at. I have been known to follow someone around a shop just to get a better look at the jewellery she's wearing.
I discovered resin after going on a silver clay jewellery workshop. Whilst I loved making the pure silver jewellery it was adding colour that interested me. I tried enamelling and think I might have persued that direction if I hadn't discovered that you could use coloured resin instead of enamel to create the look I was trying to achieve. This technique is called cold enamelling.
Then I bought a book about resin jewellery and as soon as it arrived I knew that this was what I wanted to do. I struggled in the early days as there was virtually no information available about what products I could buy in the UK. In fact there were very few products available in the UK. Everything was trial and error - and there were a lot of errors!
Since then I've developed my techiques and skills. I am constantly experimenting and trying out new ideas - "I wonder what this will look like in resin" or making my own moulds from items I find. I talk about working with resin and my experiments on my blog.

Serious stuff - none of my jewellery is suitable for children under the age of 36 months as it contains small parts which might cause choking if put in the mouth & swallowed. This is particularly relevant to resin items that have real sweets embedded in the resin.
